The PACES Academy is an online platform and community for doctors sitting PACES in the up coming diet. It was founded by Dr Dan Beese in April 2025 to try to help candidates navigate the confusing and stressful process of revising for PACES. 

The PACES Academy includes:

- Access to the community 

- Weekly check ins (via Zoom / other video hosting platforms) with Dan 

- Teaching from Dan as well as outside speakers on difficult PACES topics

- Presentation Practice - virtual presentation practice sessions hosted by Dan

- Honest reviews of courses / books and resources available for PACES

The idea of the academy is to have people who are actively preparing for PACES. To achieve this, we only admit people to the Academy at the start of each diet. 

For the up coming diet, we will be closing new membership to the Academy on May 1st 2025!

When you join the Academy, there will be an initial set of Challenges to tick off. 

We will wait until you get your exam dates before we put you into your groups 'Green, Orange and Red'.

The idea behind splitting into smaller groups is to have people preparing for a similar exam time. There will be Academy wide teachings as well as individual group sessions (e.g. Presentation Practice will be small groups)

Yes, as soon as we have the dates of the exams released, we will divide the academy into groups, Green, Orange and Red.

Red will have the early exams

Orange will have middle exams

Green will have late exams

We will then release a schedule of the teaching and presentation practice sessions so you can plan your revision! Some of these sessions will be Academy wide whilst others will be Group Specific!

Unfortunately, whilst we are obviously aiming for everyone to pass, failing PACES is still a very real possibility.

PACES is a tough exam and some candidates get desperately unlucky.

Because of this, we are offering any candidates that fail to re join the PACES Academy completely free (on showing proof). 

This will be reviewed after the initial diet and may be subject to change in future. 

Coaching is a great tool especially for those who may need a bit of extra support. 

If you haven't worked in the NHS for very long, if English isn't your first language or if you studied and practiced medicine abroad, 1:1 coaching may be a good way of practicing things like:

- Communication stations

- Presentation

- Understanding UK / NHS specific nuances like Mental Capacity, Governance or Duty of Candor etc. 

Coaching however is open to anyone and with any coaching package you will get complementary access to the PACES Academy!

What we can't guarantee:

- that you will pass (any course that guarantees this is lying).

What we can guarantee:

- You will be supported throughout your PACES journey 

- You will have access to excellent resources 

- You will be treated as an adult human, not like a medical student as so many courses seem to do!

I have taught at St Georges in London for the last year and ran the PACES teaching there. I've had excellent feedback and the more I have taught, the more I have felt that PACES Teaching often misses the mark. 

Yes, PACES is difficult and can be scary and there can be some very random thing. But, it is also an exam that examines the whole candidate and this is why its crucial to make sure you practice each domain. Not only this, but there are ways of getting around the wide potential presentations in PACES through keeping it simple and the use of good, thought through lists. 

Having done PACES recently (compared to people that run courses) I have a good understanding of how Junior Doctors feel when approaching PACES. 

I am not an expert, I'm not a consultant and if you are looking for the most information, then this isn't the right resource for you. There will be plenty of information in the PACES Academy, but the focus is the structure of your PACES revision, rather than the content. There are loads of good resources that give you the specific information already.
