What is the PACES Academy Course?
PACES is a performance. Unlike part 1 and 2, it’s not just knowledge — it’s a little knowledge, more skill and even more performance! Nobody explained that to me when I was revising! Over the past couple years teaching PACES, I've developed The PACES Academy Course: a clear, simple way to prepare for PACES.
In this course, I've only included the key things that matter for this exam! I focus on the common things likely to come up and give you my exact simple approach for each station!
PACES is a hard exam and you can still get unlucky, but if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or haven't even looked at PACES yet - this course gives you the approach, the structure and the confidence you need to finally nail PACES!
Simple Overview of PACES with 'Dan's Approach' for every station

I build on the 'Detective' and the 'Ballerina', the different identities to adopt look at the mark scheme and think critically about how to maximise your marks! This is a strange exam - you must know what you are dealing with in order to be able to prepare properly!

Who teaches the course?
The PACES Academy was founded by Dr Daniel Beese BMBS, MRCP in 2025. Dan had sat PACES23 in September of 2023. At the time he was a locum and he felt there was a better way that PACES could be taught. After passing on his first attempt, he taught PACES his hospital and went on to run the PACES teaching at St Georges, London in 2024 - 2025.
With this experience under his belt, he founded the PACES Academy, to reach other candidates and help more SHO's revising for PACES. He has also taught on the BITE PACES and Intelligent PACES Courses ran out of St Barts Hospital, London.
The Course is primarily taught by Dan but there are a number of excellent colleagues who have contributed through talks and written resources. Please see our Team Page for full details!
Is The PACES Academy right for me?
If you’re preparing for PACES but feel like you don't know hwere to start, you're an IMG or you just want someone to talk it through with... then yes! We can help!
We cannot replace examining real patients, but the PACES Academy course and community can streamline your practice, consolidate your learning and refine your presentations! Remember, this is a hoop to jump through - its all about scoring the marks! We can help you do that!
Should I buy the course or join the Community?
If you just want an overview of how to revise for PACES, the course is great. But I think the most value comes from practicing regularly! In the PACES Academy community, I will keep you accountable and make sure we are practicing regularly with feedback from myself and my team. You will get full access to the course and importantly, if you don't get the result you want - you'll have access until you pass! (Course is only 1 year access from time of purchase).

'The PACES academy was a great opportunity to meet like minded candidates and prepare together in a supportive environment. I found it difficult joining a hospital PACES group, so the PACES academy was a great substitution for this. The weekly check ins and FAQs were really helpful as well as the online videos - it allowed me to adopt a clear structure and approach and also made me aware of the expectations on examination day.'
